BLOG OF THE WEEK: by Intelligent Searcher -- IS THE PM UNSTABLE? ‘Whisperings have begun’
Is the PM unstable
Is the PM unstable

It was at the end of summer in the year 2009 when Judge Errol Thomas of the Eastern Caribbean Court ruled as NULL AND VOID the Proclamation tabled in the National Assembly which would change the electoral boundaries on the eve of the national election.

The Prime Minister at this point, thwarted in his goal of manipulating a fourth win at the polls, refused to face reality.  Coincidentally, this came at the end of Mental Health Week and citizens were aware that one of the signs of mental illness is the person’s inability to face reality – the person proceeds to live in a world created by his/her imagination.

Hence when the Prime Minister appeared on the airwaves stating that the Government had a 99% victory, there were sidelong glances and whisperings of “I told you so”. This was not only muttered under the listener’s breath but claims of the instability of the Prime Minister were also ‘voiced’ on the air waves.

“In what way was the Prime Minister different,” they asked “from a man who insisted that he had almost won the lottery because the winning number was 666 and he got 665?”

How long would the reality of what occurred be covered by a veneer of words that would convince only the dull and ignorant?  For the fifth or sixth time in the series of cases, the claimants (PAM) were awarded COSTS, yet the Prime Minister insisted that they got only a 1% victory!   If this is so, claimants in Court need only strive for a 1% victory to achieve their goals!

To remove shame from their defeat, those in the PM’s court claim that when the Judge said that there was no evidence of bias by the Government, this meant that there was no bias.  What folly!  Those of us at home know that no evidence simply means it was hard to prove but we are quite aware that it is evident.  Why would the Government, whose duty it is to uphold the Constitution be found guilty of UNCONSTITUTIONAL CONDUCT?  And why would the Government who should be upholding the Rule of Law be found guilty of CONTEMPT OF COURT?

WHY THE PM BELIEVES HE IS STILL STABLE

The PM will continue to believe he is stable if those around him refuse to reveal his nakedness to him and continue to convince him that “the Emperor has new clothes”. Their insecurity and lack of self-worth make them believe that their future success is only possible while they remain in his camp, joined to him by the hip.  They cannot envisage life without him because their closeness to him and the largesse he has sent their way enables them to maintain a particular lifestyle and prestige.  And they are prepared to lie and distort reality to make him look good to maintain this level of living.

Said one in his release to the regional and international press:

“St. Kitts-Nevis High Court rejects allegations brought by opposition party”

Says another on the website for Kittitians and Nevisians at home and abroad, while PAM was having a MASSIVE Victory Meeting on Monday night:

“LOL,…PAM could not even must 100 people tonight.  Is their clapping machine they use to fool people that hundreds are at the meeting.  You live overseas and you get fool too. LOL”

Says a third:

This situation is too serious a matter to be determined solely by one individual of the High Court … It should be taken to a higher authority of several judges to either confirm or reject that decision….”

Each of these postings represents an inability to face reality.  Nowhere do they acknowledge that the Prime Minister was thwarted in his wish to sneak in new boundaries and change people’s constituency representatives with a fortnight’s notice. In addition, there is a direct attempt to fool the overseas electorate in the Diaspora on whom they are greatly depending to tilt the elections in their favour.

People who wish to remain in the Labour Party Camp are willing to relinquish all claims to intelligence and love of country to save themselves. The saying is so true “None so blind as those who will not see”.     The danger is that when we have instability at the head of our System, every single life in this Federation is endangered.
