Ms Margaret wilkinson, mother of James wilkinson who was brutally gunned down on March 17th this year, is appealing to government authorities for compensation for jewelry that were stolen from her slain son''s body. According to Ms wilkinson, her son were wearing two gold rings, a neck chain, a hand chain, two earring studs, and a white cap. He also had US$80 and a cigarette lighter in his possession. She alleged that the US$80.00 and the two gold rings valued at $3,425 and were not recovered. She said that the rings were identified on the body at the crime scene and would have formed part of the evidence.
Ms wilkinson also alleged that the investigating officer had submitted his report to his superiors and that no member of the family was called to identify the body yet an autopsy was conducted on her son. She further alleged that she spoke to the investigating officer, the Acting Commissioner of Police, and the Minister of National Security who referred her to Mrs Astona Browne. Since then she has been experiencing great difficulty in getting compensation for the missing jewelry.
The DEMOCRAT spoke to Acting Commissioner of Police Meredith Charles who indicated that the matter is being fully investigated and gave his assurances that it would be given urgent attention. Meanwhile, Ms wilkinson is still trying to bring closure to the untimely death of her son. Any assistance that could be given to her would be most welcomed.
